Vaccinations
Are Your Friend - Or Are They?
I
bet by now you've heard quite a bit about this looming smallpox threat.
Once again, the media has its "crisis of the day" as it did
with anthrax and the West Nile virus. Its true, once prevalent in nature,
smallpox was a pretty scary bug. One in three people die when infected
and there's no known cure. The best a doctor can do for you is to provide
some morphine for the pain and some antibiotics to control secondary infection.
A worldwide campaign eradicated the disease in nature in the early '80s.
This campaign did not even advocate immunizing everyone, but rather focused
on controlling outbreaks until it vanished. There are only two known sources
of the virus today, one location at the CDC and the other in Russia. The
CDC has some pretty clear information about the disease and its something
you should check out--definitely not over dinner, most definitely with
a tall glass of your spirit of choice. A terrorist attack that involved
the smallpox virus would certainly be a serious nightmare for those involved.
The elected leaders would have you believe they have it all figured out.
I'm not so sure they do. The fostering of fear has been pretty heavy on this issue, but to what end? It's hard to turn on the news without hearing something about terrorism, bio-weapons, and this smallpox vaccination plan. To quell the supposed fears of the American people, our government has masterminded a strategy to deliver the vaccine to all 288 million people in the US today. Each state is responsible for vaccinating their health and safety personnel followed by the rest of the herd. Even George himself has been vaccinated... a ribbon cutting ceremony of sort. What a guy. I think a lot of mainstream America breathed a collective sigh of relief when George announced this plan. In fact, recent polls have indicated the majority of citizens support the plan without any qualms. Supposedly, each state is outlining their method to help deliver those 8 million or so doses of vaccine to protect all 288 million people. Take THAT Bin Laden & Co! Waaait a second, did I just say 8 million? How can we have a "National Plan" when there are only enough doses for 8 million people? Rarely do any of the reports highlight this fact! There isn't enough of the stuff to go around! Obviously your leaders think they've pulled enough from the education budget that you're now too stupid to do the math. Fortunately,
we can make more of it. Just get those factories going again and we'll
be in great shape. Since manufacturing of it has been mothballed since
the early '80s won't it take a while to get the process going? Rest assured,
it seems that if they spend, oh wait, *invest* a couple billion and get
going full throttle on production, we'll be ready sometime in 2004...
2004? That is quite a ways off for something the government would have
you believe is an impending threat at this very moment. So, what the heck does Eli Lilly have to do with national security? Apparently the propensity of the average citizen to call So & So, LLC on the mere hint of injury, is a problem for these companies. Again, I have to ask, what does Eli Lilly care about you and the "Homeland?" It seems that the welfare of these lucrative large corporations was at such great risk that Congress revised the Homeland Security Bill to protect the Pharmaceutical Industry by adding Sections 1714-1717. Haven't heard of this? Well, not many folks have. The essence of these riders is to restrict any lawsuits associated with vaccinations, specifically with regard to thimerosol. Thimerosol is a mercury derivative used (supposedly not any more though) as preservative in vaccines. Think about how many shots you've had over the years. Kids today have more than 30 injections by the age of two, and in fact many people claim that the increase in autism is linked to the mandated childhood vaccination program. You might be thinking, "What's the big deal? This is only one shot?" Well, dig into that CDC site above, or take the time to read through the AMA article below and learn about the vaccine effects. They stick a fork in your arm 15 times so that the vaccinia virus can take root and grow into this seething boil. The bodily fluids from the vaccination site are infectious for a couple weeks (the smallpox vaccine is actually a "live virus" vaccine, not just bits and parts, or some genetically engineered likeness, it's a real virus). One or two people out of every million are guaranteed to die, and countless hundreds per every million beyond those will experience reactions severe enough to warrant hospitalization. In many cases, these reactions can involve permanent disfigurement or debilitation. Reactions from this vaccine are so severe that no testing has been done on children, and in fact, G.W. Bush even said recently that the national vaccination plan would NOT include children. In addition to excluding children, elderly patients are also recommended to avoid the vaccine and there are yet other reasons adults could be excluded from the vaccination program. Oh, and one more thing on the subject of contagion and potential risk to you and your family: You don't seriously think that somebody has a couple hundred million of these bifurcated needles sitting around do you? I seems that in a crisis it will be up to the person they pulled off the unemployment line to properly follow CDC guidelines for needle sterilization before its used again on you. Yet again, back to this pharmaceutical industry and National Security thing. Remember the comment about only 8 million or so doses of vaccine? Well, who is going to make it? Do you think they're going to do it for free just because they're nice people? Cha Ching! There are still another couple hundred million doses that do not even exist, and there has to be a huge infusion of cash even to get the process going again. Now don't get all excited and think that drug stocks are the way to invest. As I said earlier, adverse events from this vaccine add up to over 500 guaranteed deaths and thousands of injured individuals. This kind of mortality doesn't sell products. Lawsuits would certainly eat into whatever massive profit margin exists on the vaccine, so the riders on the Security bill make it difficult, if not impossible, to recover damages if you or a family member were to die as a result of this vaccine. Essentially, it ensures that your only recourse is to plead to the government's existing process for recompense. So far, this process has been pretty futile for people who have experienced adverse effects from other mandated vaccines. Sure, the world has changed since September 11th, or is it just our perception of the world that has changed since then? Is there really a looming bio-terror crisis that suddenly appeared or is this another Y2K scenario to profit from? If all this is just the cause of the day, what is really the point of Homeland Security? Security for you and your family, or for corporations, elected officials, profits, and padded pockets? With insufficient supplies of vaccine to implement the government's plan for at least another 18 months, how imminent can this attack be? With no intent to vaccinate children, how legitimate is the risk of attack, since killing of the nation's children would certainly be a demoralizing success for terrorism. With a multi-billion dollar defense budget on the table and drug companies willing to spend millions to get a slice of the pie, who is really promoting the bio-terror threat. With protection for vaccine manufacturers in the Homeland Security bill, whom do our leaders truly answer to? References
